1. Creating: Chore List- Alex and his mom write letters back and forth throughout the story. Letters from Alex state why he deserves to have an iguana and what he would do to take care of it. Letters from his mom state the concerns she has about him having an iguana. Since Alex got the iguana, use the information from the story and your imagination to design a chore list that will help Alex take care of his iguana, and ensure that he will be able to keep it forever!
2. Evaluating: Give Feedback- Pretend you are a judge. Look back through the story, and assess both Alex and his mom’s reasoning’s. Based off what you read, it is your job as the judge to decide who made the best argument in the story. Judge these reasons as if you didn’t already know that Alex got the iguana. Justify your choice by providing feedback to both Alex and his mom on any improvements they could make in their persuasive writing. Give them recommendations for future reference. This feedback should be written in letterform.
